The key pad consists of a number of functional buttons such as the:
To power on hold down the [OK] key when the device is off the base with a sufficiently charged battery.
To power off, remove the device from its base and hold down both the [FUNC] and [CLEAR] keys at the same time.
Let’s now explore the touchscreen.
Essential Move has a large colour touchscreen.
When the device is powered on, the operating system provides data to display the status bar.
A 4G or 3G connection will be indicated by this signal.
The ethernet indicator will be orange when the device has connected to the Ethernet but there is no internet connection. It will be green when it is connected to the Ethernet and there is an internet connection.
Essential Move will connect to the base via bluetooth when its removed which means you can continue accepting payments when you take your device with you around the store. The maximum operating distance is approximately 70 metres indoors and 240 metres if outdoors.
Green indicates a strong Bluetooth signal between the device and its base.
Red indicates a weak Bluetooth signal between the device and the base.
White Indicates a loss of Bluetooth connection.
The power condition indicates that the device is connected to mains power and currently charging. It also shows the charge level on the device when it’s off the base. It’s recommended that the device charges on the base overnight. The battery life is approximately 8 hours when not connected to the base. To recharge just place the device on its base.
Date and time displays the current date and time.
Essential Move supports standard card payments through chip and PIN or swipe and fast tap and go payments up to $100.
Essential Move accepts payments from EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard, UnionPay, Diners, American Express, and can accept EMV payments via the internal chip card reader and contactless landing zone, and magstripe transactions via the swipe reader. Digital wallet payments from smart phone or watch are also supported.
The contactless landing zone is located at the back end of the device and receives payments via tap and go.
For Essential Lite Move, the built-in printer offers receipt printing on the go. For Plus, most businesses will use their point of sale to print receipts, however the built-in printer can be enabled for printing via the POS.
