The device was working fine yesterday on 4G/3G, but it doesn’t seem to be working as well today for some reason. Are you able to help so I can start accepting payments again?

Sure, I can help – Essential Lite Move comes with an Optus 4G/3G capable SIM already installed and ready to go. First up, let’s restart the device to see if it will reconnect to the network. You’ve got the device with you there right?
Yep – got it right there.

Ok, let’s do this together.
Place the device on its base unit and hold down both the [FUNC] and [CLEAR] keys at the same time. The device will power down and up again. When it powers on and has initialised we’ll get you to try putting a transaction through?
Ok that’s brilliant! The transaction worked fine – but what if next time it doesn’t reconnect? Mobile coverage can be a bit tricky when there are 60,000 excited people all in one place.
What do I do then?

Well, the great thing about Essential Lite Move is that it also has an Ethernet communication option, which is stable and reliable. So let’s go ahead and get that set up for you.
So is your router close by, and does it have a spare port?
What’s a router? Oh hang on; yep I know what that is. Yup it’s over there under the counter and I can see there’s a spare port.

Ok great. In the back of the device’s base unit, you’ll see there’s a port for the cable, so take the CBA Ethernet cable that came with the device to connect the router using the router’s spare port to the base unit.
Let’s connect that now. I’ll wait while you do that.

Once the cable is connected to the base unit and the router, we need to choose the IP broadband option from the menu on the device. You’ll also need to check that the ports are enabled or forwarded in the router, so you can connect through to the bank successfully.
OK so have you got the device on the base unit?
Yep – it’s on the base unit. What do I need to know?

OK, let’s start by pressing the [MENU] key

Press [4] to enter CONNECTION menu

Press [2] to enter CONFIGURE options

Press [2] to select ETHERNET

Press [3] to enter IP PARAMETERS in CONNECTION menu

Press [2] to enter DEVICE IP CONFIG

To set the connection to DHCP
Press [1] to select DHCP

To set the connection to Static connection
Press [2] to select STATIC

If at any stage you need to switch back to using the 4G/3G option, simply follow the same steps we just went through before your next transaction.
